    Batik Dyed Totes

    Students explored batik dyeing by creating tote bags with glue designs painted over with vibrant dyes, following the historical technique of using wax for negative space designs. The final pieces, after washing off the glue at home, showcased unique and colorful patterns reflecting our exploration of this traditional art form.

  • Children's zines

    Students engaged in a project that integrated drawing with collage elements. I provided instruction on the history of zines, fostering a conversation about the concept of zines as a creative medium for expressing and delving deeper into topics of personal interest.

  • Favorite Food Study

    Artists worked to paint and sculpt their favorite foods. Students learned the concept of still life, drawing an images from art history, and worked with sketching, collaged materials and clay to bring their favorite foods to life.

  • Connect The Dots

    Students used washi tape, stickers, beads, wire and buttons to create a multimedia relief. They learned about collage, sculpture, and concepts of line and shape as they relate to dimension and materiality.

  • Landscape Painting

    Students learned about traditional methods of landscape painting. Artists photographed, sketched, underpainted, and painted a landscape with acrylic medium.

  • Abstract relief

    Artists explored abstract relief sculpture by creating designs that pop out from a flat surface using cardboard, wood shapes, and colorful paints. Through the use of a common material, they grow to understand the concept of depth and texture in art.
